The Permian Basin Damage Prevention Council (PBDPC) held their most recent meeting Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at the offices of Atmos Energy in Midland, Texas. The council, in the spirit of the season decided to help out with a local charity. It was decided to support the Midland/Odessa Television Station KMID-Big 2 Toy Drive.
Big 2 & Permianbasin360 are teaming up with CASA of West Texas & Casa of the Permian Basin to make this holiday season a reason to celebrate for kids who have been neglected in our local communities. (http://permianbasin360.com/content/toydrive)
The PBDPC held its first meeting June 24, 2009 and quickly received status of Common Ground Alliance (CGA) Regional Partner on September 30, 2009. The CGA is a member-driven association dedicated to ensuring public safety, environmental protection, and the integrity of services by promoting effective damage prevention practices. The PBDPC is a volunteer organization of all stakeholders who meet monthly on the last Wednesday of the month to discuss underground utility damage prevention measures. The mission of the council is to communicate and facilitate underground asset damage prevention therefore promoting education, public safety, and environmental protection by including all stakeholders and embracing the Common Ground Alliance Best Practices.
The PBDPC is centered in the Midland/Odessa, TX area, including the following 12 counties, Andrews, Crane, Ector, Loving, Martin, Midland, Pecos, Reeves, Terrell, Upton, Ward, and Winkler. These counties cover slightly over 18,350 square miles and represent a population of almost 322,000 residents.
